Amphibious Vespa. And, like a proper gentleman, he’s wearing his bowler. Because everybody should wear a bowler when scootering on the Thames with a young lady. Anything else would be uncivilised.

What’s the story with that project anyway

I suspect it is not a Vespa, but a Lambretta.

There may be already two hit squads –one of Lambretta fans, the other of Vespa fans– coming to find you. It’s the kind of innocent mistake those guys do not like at all.

Lambrettas have the engine in the centre, whereas Vespas have it offset to one side. That lack of symmetry has always bothered me somewhat.

sloooooooow. Basically, I have to finish the midgate in order to finish the integral roll bar, and I have to finish those in order to finish the cage itself and move on to lighter wire for most of the rest of the body welding. And since almost nothing I can be doing on it (or that I’ve thought to do) is other than welding at this point and that welding is very involved, I just haven’t been able to devote much time.

I suppose I could try working on the door hinges and hanging of the doors. Tricky in its own right, because I’ve shortened the doors at the bottom.

Don’t shoot the messenger. The site where I found it labeled it as a Vespa so I went with that. But I can see where fans could get their panties in a wad.

Don’t worry, I am not part of either crowd! But I’ve noticed they are quite passionate about others confusing both marques. In any case Vespa could almost be understood nowadays as a generic term for “scooter” (see, now I am deflecting towards me part of the flak aimed at you).

At least I didn’t call it a moped!

Have a look here:

I suppose that the (for the time) scantily-clad lady was a last-ditch attempt attract people to the idea.

The gent with blazer and the boater looks almost as wonderful as the one with the bowler though.

The boater guy is definitely dressed for a day at the beach. And what the hell is up with that reverse side car??

Less frontal area perhaps? Although I suppose the user would soon get poisoned by exhaust fumes.
